Description
Meet the LUMIX S5II - beginning of a new phase for LUMIX. With unlimited creative possibilities, these versatile hybrid full-frame mirrorless cameras will help you capture stunning content in any situation.
Advanced features like PDAF and I.S. (Image stabilization) make using the LUMIX S5II a truly rewarding experience. Capture high-quality photos and video with unlimited recording and enjoy enhanced mobility with this compact full-frame mirrorless camera.
Phase Hybrid AF supports aggressive shooting
The most important thing with autofocus is to be dependable. It’s all about how quickly and faithfully you can capture the subject. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX S5II is the first LUMIX mirrorless camera to offer the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, delivering accuracy even in backlit or low-light environments.
779-point AF
The number of AF points has been increased to 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue to capture even small subjects that are easily out of focus. Even when using 1-Area AF, the AF frame can be set as small as pinpoint level, helping the creator focus on the subject as intended.
AI-based recognition technology
Deep Learning technology enables high-speed, high-precision recognition and tracking of humans (face, eyes, heads, and bodies) and animals (dogs, cats, and birds).
Great for shooting as you walk: Active I.S. Technology
LUMIX has long supported hand-held shooting with B.I.S. and 5-Axis Dual I.S.2, and now the LUMIX S5II is equipped with Active I.S., which supports walking shots, to further enhance image stabilization in video recording. By determining the status of camera shake and optimizing correction ratios, the system can compensate for even significant camera shake, approximately 200%* more than conventional systems.
*Compared with LUMIX S5. Focal length 20mm, when using S-R2060.
6.5-stop Dual I.S. 2 (Image Stabilizer)
5-axis Dual I.S. 2 (Image Stabilizer) combines control of the B.I.S. and Lens O.I.S. to offer 6.5 stops’ worth of correction.*
*Based on the CIPA standard [Yaw/Pitch direction: focusing distance f=200mm when S-E70200 is used.]
Viewfinder for excellent color reproduction
The 3,680k-dot 0.78x live view finder uses a highly responsive, easy-to-see OLED display to capture even fast-moving subjects in fine detail. In addition, the high contrast display (approx. 10,000:1) presents the subject with fine gradations and high clarity throughout.
High outdoor visibility free-angle monitor
LUMIX S5II features a 1840k-dot 3.0-inch LCD. With outstanding brightness and a wide color gamut, it offers high visibility for outdoor shoots. Its free-angle touch screen makes it easy to compose high- and low-angle shots, further adding to the convenience and flexibility of the camera.
Intuitive operation
The intuitive, well-calculated layout and the 8-directional joystick, with all shooting buttons concentrated on the right side and the most frequently used buttons, such as the joystick, within reach of the thumb, allow for intuitive operation. The focus area can be intuitively selected with a touch of the thumb. This allows you to take pictures quickly and easily while keeping your focus on the subject.
The S5 IIX is the "pro video" variant, offering several exclusive features for high-end production:
Advanced Codecs: It supports internal Apple ProRes and All-Intra recording, which are less compressed and easier for computers to process during editing compared to the Long-GOP format found in the S5 II.
External SSD Recording: You can record high-bitrate video (up to 800Mbps) directly to a portable SSD via the USB-C port, which is often more cost-effective than high-speed SD cards.
Pro Video Output: It includes built-in RAW video data output via HDMI (ProRes RAW to Atomos or BRAW to Blackmagic recorders). The S5 II requires a separate paid firmware upgrade for this feature.
Live Streaming: The "X" model supports wired/wireless IP streaming and USB tethering for direct broadcasting to platforms like YouTube or Facebook Live.
Aesthetic: The S5 IIX features a distinctive all-black "stealth" design with grey labels and a blacked-out logo, whereas the S5 II has standard white labelling.
