Panasonic DMS1E Microphone

Description

The DMW -DMS1 comes with a newly developed large-diameter 10 mm microphone array, built under strict quality control to reduce variation between mic elements and deliver clear, consistent audio with strong directionality. To help keep recordings usable in real-world situations, the DMW-DMS1 also reduces handling vibration through an internal shock-mount “floating” structure and includes a large windscreen for clearer outdoor audio.

For maximum flexibility, newly developed beamforming technology enables six directional modes, so you can adapt quickly to different scenes. Choose natural pickup with some ambience, stronger forward presence, a wider sense of space, tighter rejection for noisy/reverberant environments, rear-focused pickup for narration, or front-and-rear pickup for interactive interviews.

When the sound matters most, reliable recording features help protect your take. The microphone supports 32-bit float recording using dual A/D converters for an extended dynamic range, and it is designed to handle sound pressure levels exceeding 120 dB to help suppress distortion in loud environments such as live venues. A backup recording mode can also use channels 3 and 4 as safety tracks when recording in 4-channel mode.

Despite its capability, the DMW-DMS1 stays highly portable: roughly 73.7 × 45 × 63.7 mm and approx. 100 g. Operation is handled through physical switches and clearly arranged directional mode buttons, with button-light brightness adjustable in three levels from the camera. A dedicated pouch is included and designed to fit the mic even with the windscreen attached.
